The Eucharist, central to Christian worship, embodies profound theological concepts of consecration and transformation. The paper examines the liturgical interpretation, elucidating basic terms crucial for understanding these processes within the context of the Eucharistic celebration. The act of making holy, finds its essence in the liturgical rituals of the Eucharist. Through prayers, blessings, and the consecration of bread and wine, the Eucharist sanctifies the elements, transforming them into the body and blood of Christ. The most essential part of the Eucharist is the conversion and consecration of the Gifts at the moment of the invocation, epicletic (ἐπίκλησις) part. Drawing from liturgical texts, patristic writings, and the rich tradition of Eastern Orthodox spirituality, this paper explores the nuanced understanding of consecration and transformation in the Eucharist, emphasizing their transformative power in the life of the Church.
