Abstract:
The subject of this text is the Holy Prophet Elijah’s Church in the town of Svishtov, which has recently been restored. The history and architecture of the temple are explored, and the commemorating inscription above the entrance is quoted. The iconostasis, the icons, the archbishop’s throne, the proskynitarion and the pulpit, which were originally created for the interior of the church building, are all presented. Although it is not preserved in its entirety, the architectural and artistic ensemble is an example of the traditions in the development of church arts during the epoch of the Bulgarian revival.
