Abstract:

During the great terror of 1937–1938 political, governmental and economical leaders were repressed as well as the high military command. The leading elite of the Lenin guard was liquidated. Its place was taken by a new set of leaders. They were young people who had no contribution for the revolution and had not taken part in the events from 1917–1920. Their uprise was due to their absolute loyalty to Stalin.
