Abstract:
The focus of the research is put on the influence that both the published memoirs and the personal stories and oral history might have on the formation of the collective memory about socialism. The author examines the trace that socialism has left both in people committed to the regime and their victims and concludes that the memories about that recent period in history are influenced by fear and many taboos as the trauma is still alive in the post-war generations.
