Abstract:

The settling of the Muslim community in Lovech is accompanied by a number of changes, including the dropping out of the importance of the medieval fortress and the differentiation of a new central core, the market place. The Ottomans took up the left bank of Osam river and the Christians continued living on the slopes of Hissarya hill. Lovech grew out of the medieval fortress’ walls and acquired a new territorial structure and look.
