Abstract:

In the Age of Ottoman domination in the Bulgarian lands, many religious and mystical centers were founded, connected with the various mystical brotherhoods that acted in the territories of the Ottoman Empire. These centers (tekke, zaviye) are also places of literature and have their own collections of books that are read by the Brotherhood followers living there. One such center is the Tekke of Nazar (Nazýr) Baba in Vidin. After the Liberation from Ottoman domination, part of the handwritten and printed books that were previously in possession by the different Muslim religious and public institutions fell into the National Library “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” (Sofia). Among them is the book collection of the Tekke of Nazar (Nazýr) Baba. In our article we present the book collection of this religious-mystical center in Vidin. The information we export proves its place as a center that educates and disseminates views and values related to mysticism in Islam.
