Abstract:

The study traces the persistence of cult practices stored in the collective memory of the population over time, how they have evolved over the years and what transformation they have undergone to our times. The monastery with the holy spring has a centuries-old history. The first description dates from the late 19th century. Many legends justify its occurrence. Until the 50s of the 20th century, thousands of pilgrims flocked here on the day of the patron saint of the holy place – July 17. The resumption of the traditional celebration stored in the collective memory happened in 2006. The Folklore Festival, named “The Festival of Fertility” is organized and it is included in the National Cultural Calendar of the Ministry of Culture.
