Abstract:
Maria Robeva is 42 years old from Gorna Oryahovitsa. She makes souvenir dolls that are folk-themed or created on other special occasions. For example, they are made to order as a wedding gift, for the celebration of an anniversary, for a particular holiday, etc. Depending on the order, Maria divides the dolls into different categories. Such are dolls fisherman, hunter, soccer player, rocker, grandpa pop and more. She also pays attention to the magical world, creating fairy dolls, angels, beauties and witches. She uses authentic woven fabrics, wool, cotton lace, genuine leather and various yarns to make the dolls. She tries to use mostly natural materials to get as close as possible to folk crafts. The folk costumes that Maria has created so far are from the Rhodope, Thracian and Dobrudzha ethnographic regions. According to her, other regional patterns of costumes are yet to be worked out.
