Abstract:
In this article, two cases of false attribution of authorship to Zahari Stoyanov
are analyzed. The first case is a review published in the Savetnik paper (Sliven)
in 1882. Zahari Stoyanov’s authorship of this review is rejected because of the great
stylistic differences and the lack of linguistic wealth in it, which are so typical of the
reviews written by Zahari Stoyanov. The second case is a feature entitled “Socialism
in Bulgaria”, published in the Svoboda paper in 1887. Its stylistics, linguistic wealth
and some aspects of the text are analyzed. The analysis is also based on some documents
that show, according to us, the possible author or forger of the text of “Socialism
in Bulgaria” – Dimitar Petkov. As a result of the analysis, we can conclude that
Zahari Stoyanov was neither a socialist, nor a diehard antisocialist like the author of
the feature, wrongly attributed to Zahari Stoyanov.
