Abstract:

The Cyprian Monastery in Bessarabia was a dependency of the Zograf Monastery from 1678 to 1916. Within the indicated period, it made a considerable contribution to the economic support of Zograf on the one hand, and obtained a wealth of experience in spiritual advancement on the other hand. In the 19th century, the monastery was closely linked to the Bulgarian National Revival. During World War I, Russia broke the ties between the two monasteries and deported the Bulgarian monks from Cyprian. The list of them is published here.
