Abstract:
For many years, Dr. Ivan Bogorov was underestimated by his contemporaries. Even in his birthplace, Karlovo, his anniversaries were not celebrated, and his house was destroyed by time. Only in the 1930s, on the initiative of the Vasil Levski National Committee and the organization of Karlovo residents living in Sofia, actions were taken to perpetuate the memory of the first Bulgarian journalist. Nowadays, there are two monuments dedicated to Dr. Ivan Bogorov in Karlovo, as well as a street and a house that bear his name. There is also a village near the city of Silistra named after him (Bogorovo) along with the community centre in it. Streets in Sofia, Varna, Burgas and Haskovo, a high school and a publishing house in Sofia, the Language School in Dimitrovgrad, the Vocational School of Economics in Varna and the Vocational School for Leather Products and Textiles in Plovdiv also bear his name. Furthermore, a postage stamp was issued in his honour in 1986.
