Abstract:
The paper presents and analyses the Chinese policy of President Bill Clinton‘s administrations. It follows the dynamics of the bilateral relations during the 1990s, showcasing the changes, as well as the constants in the U.S. policy towards People‘s Republic of China. The paper argues that the criticism towards Clinton‘s China policy is mostly based on retrospective assessment and that in the context of the 1990s the same policy seems reasonable and beneficial to the American national interests.
