Abstract:

The article analyzes the domestic political differentiation of the Eurasian region as a result of the liberalization of economic and political relations in the 1980s in the USSR. Emphasis is placed on the division of the countries in the region into several groups, namely: Southeast (Central Asia and Kazakhstan), South (Caucasus), Western (Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus) and Northwestern (Baltic countries). The grouping is based on politico-geographical and geopolitical indicators. The countries have also been ranked according to their neighboring territorial location and proximity to Russia. The integration processes in the post-Soviet space are traced. The material, historical and intercultural grounds for closer cooperation are highlighted.
