Abstract:

The article presents the investigation results of the textile remains discovered in a grave excavated near a medieval church. A linear metal and silk thread embroidery was found near the spine, cervical vertebrae, and on the wrist bones of a male skeleton. Two alternating ornaments are embroidered – a swastika and overlapping rectangular “C”. Fragments of satin and twill damask were found under the embroidery. The embroidery can be dated to the 14th – 15th (?) century.
