Abstract:

The author presents the information of historical sources about the political crisis in Bulgaria in 1330 – 1331. It is traditionally assumed that the overthrow of Queen Anna-Neda and her son Ivan Stefan was a consequence of the struggle against Serbian influence. But this was rather the result of internal struggles. Tsar Ivan Alexander fought with many contenders for power. His victory was not easy. It is assumed that he did not act with great violence. Being a representative of the Asenids was important as this helped unite the aristocrats around him.
