Abstract:

The kindergarten has the exceptional responsibility to socialize the children, introducing them to a big part of the sintagmatical relations and functions, operating with different symbol systems and mostly their future practical use. As a special type of symbol, the picture plays an important role in preparing the children for writing. It is important to find the symbolistical essence of the two activities and to specify whether the picture as a symbol can be compared to the writing, where the symbolistical part is much less visible. Analysing the question about representation and meaning on a semiological level, we find points of contact and missing units between the picture, the speech and the writing, which will lead to a more effective practical work.
