Abstract:
The article examines social activity of Veliko Tarnovo Diocese in one of the oldest Bulgarian monasteries – “St. Peter and St. Pavel” monastery of Lyskovets in the first half of the 20th century. Within the period under consideration, the monastery was for a short while inhabited by a monastic fraternity of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, but according to specific public needs had opened its doors to various noble initiatives in favor of Russian emigrants and Bulgarian citizens.
