Abstract:

Pencho Slaveykov was a controversial classic during his lifetime. The motifs in his π‘†π‘Žπ‘› π‘§π‘Ž π‘†β„Žπ‘‘π‘Žπ‘ π‘‘π‘–π‘’ (Dream of Happiness) cycle are numerous, but all of them are circumscribed by philosophical concepts. Dreaming, loneliness, love seen as suffering and joy, the torment of creation, death – all reflect Slaveykov’s aesthetic conception. Interestingly, water is present throughout the cycle in various hypostases, forms, and states of aggregation from the very first lines. Certain forms born of water, such as mist, rain, and morning mist, are more common.
