Abstract:

The main bodies that organize and conduct the elections in the Republic of Bulgaria are the election commissions. In the elections for municipal councilors and mayors, the competent electoral commissions are the Central Electoral Commission, the Municipal Electoral Commissions, and the Sectional Electoral Commissions. Their status, composition, and powers are of key importance for the lawful and democratic election of local government bodies in the Republic of Bulgaria. It is therefore important that they be subject to critical analysis from legal theory.
