The present study was developed in connection with task 4.1.4. of the National Security and Defense Science Program for program site development and social media publicity.' In this study, specific threats to the security of distance learning systems in Bulgarian universities are analyzed, taking into account the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The methodology includes analyzing statistical data from a 4-year experiment in a real Bulgarian university and conducting phishing attack simulations. The results show that the number of high-risk incidents has increased since the start of the war in Ukraine, indicating targeted hacker attacks against university systems, and that proactive measures need to be taken for monitoring and identifying risky logins. Additionally, the study finds that training users with simulated phishing attacks is an effective method for improving security
