Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to present the Museum of Socialist Art in Bulgaria, opened in Sofia on September 19 2011, and the way it is accepted by the Bulgarian society. The reasons for the wave of discontent provoked by the new museum are explained by some of the most characteristic statements of political parties and public organizations, journalists, art critics, artists, historians. The respective conclusions are drawn on the basis of the information available in the electronic media and internet forums.
