Abstract:

The study of Prof. Lachezar Georgiev Georgiev PhD, examines current issues related to the contemporary graphic design and the graphic composition of the children’s book. The author gives a number of examples of European and Bulgarian book publishing for children. It follows the modern graphic design of the children’s book and the contemporary graphic solutions for its layout. Along with classical approaches to shaping, the study also provides examples of contemporary graphic solutions, attracting child’s attention to: 3D children’s books), the use of multimedia and new visual communication products (animation, comic book novel, movies, music, musical). The study also gives examples of American and Bulgarian publishing companies who make single specimens on demand for children with their participation and with the participation of their parents. The new role of digital printing for the development of modern children’s book publishing is also noted. The study provides graphic examples of Spanish, Portuguese, English, Brazilian and Bulgarian publishing series for children, as well as examples of well-illustrated children’s books. Among the examples given by Professor Lachezar Georgiev are the children’s books of the world-famous Portuguese writer Josй Saramago.
