Abstract:

The subject of analysis is the relationship between the protective patterns of behaviour, characteristic of adults, and the socalled ‘automatic thoughts and expressions.’ Based on the psychodynamic interpretation of defence mechanisms and their complex manifestation in behaviour, the report considers specific ways of speaking which can be used as a diagnostic criterion for determining the mental status of a given individual.
