Abstract:
The development of linguistic research and the application of new and proven practices in teaching Bulgarian as a foreign language increases the requirements regarding the level of competence of lecturers. In order to meet all the challenges and to teach the language to meet the different needs of learners, it is necessary to use various methodologies relevant to the diverse groups of learners. The report offers four approaches to teaching Bulgarian – for foreign students in the preparatory course who will continue their studies in Bulgaria; for foreign students in language schools who live and work in our country for a certain period; for refugees who have chosen to stay in Bulgaria forever and educate their children in Bulgaria; and for Bulgarians born abroad or have gone abroad in pre-school age.
