Abstract:
The process of codification of the Macedonian standard language went off from the end of 1944 till the spring of 1945. Three successive commissions were appointed. They had the task to work out the alphabet of the Macedonian language and to specify the dialectal stem of the standard norm. Main issue in the work of the commissions also became the existence of the grapheme Ú in the new alphabet. Under the pressure of the Belgrade leaders an incomplete alphabet of 31 letters (without Ú) was created. The western Macedonian dialects from the regions of Skopje, Tetovo and Kichevo were taken as a base of the language.
