Abstract:

The question about the transport integration of Bulgaria determines new positions, regarding the infrastructural security of the country. The point of this article is to build an economy grid of the national territory. However, its intensity and activation depends on political and geographical factors. The inclusion of Bulgaria in the European economic architecture is predetermined by the process of appropriation of the Balkan area, by the dynamization of the influence of the economic states, by the extrapolation of the Balkan political and economic processes. In this context we display the role and the significance of the local transport objects, having national importance. The airport of Gorna Oryahovitsa, which we examine, corresponds to the need of reformatting of regional and national approaches with a view to the optimisation of economic life and its socio-economic hinterland. The infrastructural (transport) local areas in Bulgaria have dynamic characteristics. The question we ask the academic community is: “If they are a product or a factor for economic areal prosperity?” And if not, what is the alternative?
