Abstract:

The present text is devoted to the beginning of the Balkan studies and to the study by Yerney Kopitar (1829), translated from German into Serbian language, devoted to the structural-typological comparison between the Albanian, Wallachian and Bulgarian languages. The Serbian translation, which dates from 1830, was signed by Milosh Svetich (Yovan Hadzhich), the editor of “Serbian Chronicle”, an edition of the literary circle, reflecting the Vojvodina Serbs’ intellectual life and relations to the Viennese and European philology and Slavic studies. In the end of Kopitar’s study translated from German language (a short version of it), M. Svetich makes additions and comments, which have never been cited before in any researches or publications, dedicated to the history of the linguistic Balkan studies.
