Abstract:

The city’s urbanonyms are able to trace the cultural and historical development not only of the populated area, but also of a whole nation. Urbanonyms not only have an address function but are also a mediator for the preservation of the spiritual heritage. Plovdiv’s urbanonyms are an example of the cultural ties that have existed for centuries between the peoples of the Balkan peninsula.
