Abstract:

Many cities recognize innovative opportunities provided by the old city neighborhood and often use tourism as a means to enable these neighborhoods “new life”. City tourism plays a significant role inrestoring, reviving and reactivating the old city districts, which are due to the loss of administrative, political and economic functions neglected. These districts are largely preserved its authenticity and charm of past times, so many tourists coming to visit. The festival, mainly music, attracts mostly young tourists, a wider range of tourist offers has an impact on length of stay and the volume of tourist spending. Local residents identified the need for accommodation and food, but a time of temporary capacity develops permanent tourism infrastructure. These and similar processes are present in the Downtown, the old baroque town located in the lower part of the Petrovaradin. The aim is to show impact of tourism on the urban regeneration of the Downtown, as well as the strength of the link between urban tourism and the attractive value of cultural and historical sites.
