Abstract:

In the recent decade Europe has faced serious challenges in touristic development as a result of the Green Deal, COVID-19 pandemic and other factors. In order to cope with them, alternative solutions have been sought to launch relatively not so popular forms of touristic services. Not so well known, but prospectively promising is brownfield tourism that promotes the secondary use of affected territories, attraction of linked investment, and creation of alternative employment. This study aims to reveal the potential for stimulating brownfield tourism together with Communityled Local Development (CLLD), by outlining the attitude and inclinations of Local Action Groups (LAGs). Theoretical and empirical methods, such as analysis, synthesis, comparison, questionnaires, and statistical processing have been used. The expected results will include proposing new possibilities for stimulating a non-traditional type of tourism, part of which are related to an intense collaboration with municipalities within the LEADER programme and Community-led Local Development approach.
