Abstract:

Labor shortage in agriculture has become a critical issue affecting the productivity, competitiveness, and economic stability of the agricultural sector. This study aims to analyze the causes and consequences of labor shortage in Bulgarian agriculture and explore its impact on agricultural production, labor costs, export, and overall economic performance. The paper examines data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) and the Ministry of Agriculture, providing an overview of the decline in the agricultural workforce, the resulting decrease in productivity, and the effects on the cost of production. It highlights how reduced labor availability leads to increased labor costs, which in turn drive up production prices, affecting both domestic and international markets.
