Abstract:
In recent years, the global economy has undergone significant changes driven by a host
of events: COVID-19, war situations, insecurity, increase in energy required for development, etc.
Notwithstanding its renowned history, culture, and technological development, Japan is facing multiple challenges both on the world stage and on its domestic market. Given the demographic problems
it has experienced for decades, the country is also being challenged by the global pandemic. These
factors raise many questions about its ability to be part of the world’s major economic powers. By
using culture as a factor to influence the events that have occurred, the behavior of some indicators
that are analyzed is unusual when compared to other G7 countries. Using key macroeconomic factors
to evaluate developments, the purpose of this report is to identify trends in the Japanese economy and
the specific features they create at both national and global levels.
