Guidelines for authors

 

DIPTYCH • ДИПТИХ considers only manuscripts which have not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. All articles are subject to a double-blind peer-review process. The Editorial Board makes all publication-related decisions based on the reviewers’ recommendations. All manuscripts should be submitted by email at diptych@ts.uni-vt.bg no later than 15 February (for Issue 1) and 15 September (for Issue 2) of the current year, as both *.docx and *.pdf files.

The journal does not have any article processing or submission charges for authors.

 

Manuscript Language

Each manuscript must be written in grammatically correct language, without spelling and punctuation errors. The journal allows published materials to be in Bulgarian, Russian, English and Serbian. Texts in poor Bulgarian, Russian, English or Serbian will not be considered.

 

Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should be structured in the following way:

Name(s) of author(s) in Cyrillic alphabet;

Title of the article in Cyrillic alphabet;

Name(s) of author(s) in English;

Title of the article in English;

Abstract in English;

Keywords in English;

Main body of the text;

Works Cited;

List of abbreviations (if any);

Titles, workplace(s) and e-mail(s) of the author(s);

Articles written in English should contain an abstract and keywords in English only. Similarly, the names of the author(s) should be written in English only.

 

Technical requirements for the text:

1. Studies up to 80 standard pages, articles up to 30 standard pages, reviews and opinions up to 10 standard pages.

2. Abstract in English – up to 900 characters.

3. Texts must be submitted in word format and a copy in pdf.

4. Times New Roman is used for Cyrillic, Latin, Old and New Greek, Hebrew, etc. For Old Bulgarian – CyrillicaOchrid10U, for Church Slavonic – Triodion ieUcs. If other fonts are required, they must be provided as separate files. Only Unicode fonts are used.

5. Graphs, tables and images are included in the text where they should be. They are also submitted as separate files.

6. Illustrations must be in jpg format, from 300 to 500 pixels/inch.

 

In-text citation

In the text, sources are cited in parentheses, for example: (Ivanov 1979: 158). When authors with the same surnames are cited, the initials are also indicated in the parentheses: (Ivanov, I. 1979: 158). In the case of multiple publications by one author in the same year, an index with a letter is added after the year, for example: (Ivanov 1979a: 158), (Ivanov 1979b: 160). The use of footnotes for citation is not allowed.

 

‘Works Cited’ Section

The list of works after the main body of the text should be preceded by a WORKS CITED heading and should only include quoted sources. Titles in Cyrillic, Latin, Greek and other scripts should be given in separate sections. Titles in a non-Latin script should be transliterated into a Latin script, observing the transliteration rules of the particular country. Bulgarian names and titles should be transliterated according to the Transliteration Act of the Republic of Bulgaria (Държавен вестник, #19/13.03.2009).

Materials that do not meet the requirements are returned to the authors for correction.
