Ivaylo und kein Ende? III. Retrospective Data on the Outbreak of the So-called Ivaylo’s Uprising from Ottoman Sources

Abstract:

The well-known event in the history of medieval Bulgaria, the socalled uprising of Ivaylo (1277–1280), is discussed in the article, presumably in regard to its localization. Analysing the Pachymer’s term Zygos, some additional comments to the interpretations of this event by the Bulgarian historians are presented. The perspectiveness of the use in analysis of the Ottoman historians Mehmed Neşri and Hoca Sadeddin’s information, nevertheless of its subsequent date towards the Ivaylo’s uprising, is also underlined.
