This article contains information about the life and work of the Bulgarian Orthodox Bishop Nestor Smolenski (Nikola Krastev Stefanov). Reported data submitted by Bishop Nestor documents and materials for the collection of the State Archives – Ruse. Cited a statement by the French literary critic and writer Jean Jacques Mitterrand on 14 June 2002 in Bulgarian monastery Lopushanski for poetic works of Bishop Nestor Smolenski: “In your face I saw one of the vertices of the poetry of the late twentieth century and the beginning of our century. “
