Abstract:

This article discusses the lists of settlements as sources for Oykonymy. An annotated index has been included at the end. Out of each edition, a sample of data about the home village of Prof. Nikolai Kovachev – Kravenik has been taken. Notes on how the lists of settlements have been used in previous toponymy research are included. The article ends with a reasoned recommendation that researchers of settlements’ names should use List 1911, List 1921, List 1924, List 1930, List 1939, List 1957 and List 2002 in their research. Special attention is paid to the names of hamlets and huts available in the footnotes that are included only in the lists of settlements awarded until 1939.
