Abstract:
The work is dedicated to one of the current problems of modern linguistics – lingual ecology. This issue is studied on the basis of the toponymy of a unique region of the world - Daghestan. The author mentions some factors that cause the disappearance of toponymic units in Daghestan languages. The situation with materials unfixed in written sources causes the concern over this particular problem. The probability of the loss of valuable materials is increasing by the day. The author shares the opinion that the study of microtoponyms is of great value not only for linguistics and the history of Daghestan but for lingual ecology as well.
