Abstract:
The article concentrates on names of natural monuments, specifically boulders. Linguistic analysis is focused on characterize these names in terms of semantic and formal, but whats even more important showing their relationship to the history, the tradition of the region, and more generally - culture. These monuments are a kind of mikrotoponyms, that before formally been drawn into the register of natural monuments protected by the law, were known only to the local population, geographers, geologists and tourists. They were seen as the wonders of nature or object of research, and in the past have often been the subject of worship. However, the specificity of the language of these names dares to some proposal – to treat monuments of nature (along with other forms of protection) as a kind of ekotoponyms.
