Abstract:

For each of the studied anthroponyms, the linguistic analysis that we carry out concerns their origins, the semantic potential of each etymological stem, the components which form them and are aggregated in order to fulfill an anthroponymically vowed purpose, the words that, a posteriori, were created by being derived from them. Within the present paper, we also discuss the modalities through which the Romanian language has adapted to its own system the words of Slavonic origin that, due to various reasons, it had borrowed and let in; we study the evolution of the forms they took during their circulation, which lasted for many centuries. The intrinsic value held by such acquisitions of Slavonic origin which consequently, have become the etymological stems for some Romanian anthroponyms is, in its essence, of a documentary nature, due to the fact that they do constitute useful proofs for the scientific elucidation of the processes through which the actual denomination system that functions within the Romanian language has arrived to the shape and outline that we know and we are currently studying.
