Abstract:
The article is about the legal and the “street” surnames of the people from the Moldovan town of Tvardita, situated in the southern part of the Republic of Moldova, inhabited almost entirely with Bulgarians. Here the term street names will be used in regard to unofficial surnames or clan names used by neighbours but not registered in their bearers’ identity documents. The names of 54 families have been described.
