Abstract:

The author of the article presents an interesting story about a pub located in the small Bulgarian town of Razgrad. In the 1930s the pub became a centre of the public life in the town. As a consequence of a dispute about the Bulgarians who lived abroad, one of the participants in the dispute wrote a letter to the Romanian Academy of Science. Unexpectedly, a polite answer was received, addressed to the Bulgarian Academy of Science in Razgrad. The letter contained detailed information about how many Bulgarians lived in Bessarabia. Since then the pub was called The Academy.
