Abstract:
The body part term череп ‘skull’ in Bulgarian geographical lexis and toponymy. The metaphorical extension of the body part term череп ‘skull’ in Bulgarian dialect geographical lexis and toponymy is examined in this paper. The study suggests that the word ч˜реп, dial. ч£реп ‘skull’, ‘broken pot’, ‘part of a broken pot’, can express the conceptual metaphors THE EMINENCE IS A SKULL, THE ROCK IS A SKULL and THE CONCAVITY IS A CONTAINER.
