Glagolitic Heritage in the Treskavec Euchologium from the 13th Century

Abstract:

The article presents data about a newly-found copy of the Blessing of the Waters on the Eve of Epiphany, the text of which has been published only partially in the edition of the Treskavec Euchologium from the 13th century without being identified. This copy is the most thorough text of the divine service from the period found so far. It demonstrates a textual and lexical similarity to the Glagolitic Euchologium Sinaiticum from the 10th – 11th centuries. Part of the newly-found services for the Blessing of the Waters on the Eve of Epiphany have been published here for the first time. The paper also presents the lexical and semantic doublets and formulates a scientific hypothesis regarding the so-called archaic redaction of euchological books in literary tradition.
