Abstract:

Demetrius Kantakouzenos was a Bulgarian writer who worked in the second half of the 15th century. His poetic text Molitva kam Bogoroditsa (A Prayer to the Mother of God), written in the pletenie sloves (плетение словес) style, has been the subject of many interpretations. This study traces two of the main themes of his work: the holiness of the Mother of God and the human sinfulness and repentance.
