Abstract:

This article examines the game-based approach as an effective means for optimizing the performance of youth football players within the contemporary training process. In response to the increasing demands placed on young athletes, the 92 rR game-based approach is analysed as a pedagogically oriented framework in which learning is conducted through representative game situations closely aligned with real competitive contexts. The focus is placed on the potential of game situations and small-sided games to develop decision-making, off-the-ball behaviour, communication and team interaction, emotional regulation, and game discipline. The analysis demonstrates that purposeful modification of game conditions creates opportunities for functional acquisition of game principles and for sustainable transfer of learned skills to competitive performance. Particular attention is given to the role of the coach as a pedagogical facilitator of the learning environment, whose intervention is predominantly indirect. In conclusion, the game-based approach is identified as a scientifically grounded methodological framework that supports the holistic development of youth football players.
