Abstract:

This studya to object if theneed for periodic methodological support of teachers in geography and economics in the region of Sliven in connection with the identified defici enciesre garding the methodology of teaching geography and complie swith the methodological requirements of the new curriculumon the subject required by the entry into force of the law for pre-school and school education from 08.01.2016. The study covers the period 2014–2016 and isbasedon the specific issue shighlighted as a consequence of the monitoring and analyzis of the activities of the teachers in the region. It shows the teachers’ attitudes with respect to the planned and implemented training activities, specifies the shared best teaching practices, the provided methodological support the experts to the lecturers, implementing the trainings. The research also emphasis on the collegial communication as a factor for professional enrichment and development of the teachers and the college as a whole, reflects the strong competition and the unification of criteria regarding the methods for assessing the knowledge, skills and competencies of students, and thus to improves the quality of the work of the educators. In conclusion, the study suggests that the periodic and timely methodological support assists in the realization of teachers’, updates their scientific knowledge and motivates them in terms of their professional development.
