Abstract:
During the forementioned period in Western Europe medicine went through drastic change in its learning and practice. Latin physicians got familiar with knowledge from the Antique, Byzantine and Arabian medicine. Metodical education in medicine came to exist and the profession itself got its legal form. Medicine was tought in universities and medical faculties were founded, graduates got license for practice. All those changes inevitably had a certain connection with the Catholic Chirch and affiliated institution, playing the role of a leading enlightener of medieval society.
