Abstract:

The study focuses on the essence, some of the functional characteristics and the application of collages in Geography and economics training. The collage is an excellent helper in achieving many of the goals and objectives of the educational process, stimulating an interest to discover, as well as the geographical curiosity and creativity of the students. Using collages helps the teacher get an idea of the students’ knowledge and opinion of an object, their attitude towards it. Collages reveal pupils’ individuality as far as the perception, understanding and interpretation of geographic information is concerned. They guarantee a closer teacher-student relationship. They provoke interest and creativity, but also criticism, self-criticism and self-assessment. The introduction of collages as a didactic tool for activating the students’ cognitive skills has been reasoned. The didactical benefits of using collages in the learning process have been evaluated.
