Abstract:

The most important craft in legionary camps on the Lower Danube limes was building. The purpose of this investigation is to make a characteristic of building materials. There are different kinds which were used in building: wood, mudbricks, clay, bricks and tiles with or without legionary’s stamps, different types of stone, mortar, etc. Some of them were extracted from closer vicinity or an area of the same province. Other were imported from distant lands (for example marble).
