Abstract:

In the current article we are trying to find an answer to the question whether it is relevant to associate the god Tezcatlipoca with the circle of gods personifying the absolute evil or not, as we make a brief comparative analysis between the cult to Tezcatlipoca and that of the Satan, in order to find out the similarities and the differences between them. With that end in view, we are going to examine and compare the major elements in the mythological biographies of the aforementioned characters in a strict sequence. The actuality of the topic is a result not only of the lack of enough studies in Bulgarian historiography, but also because of the existing controversial questions that are still expecting their answer. In the course of our work, we faced some difficulties, connected with the accessible literature and sources.
